Practical Nursing Instructor
The Auburn Practical Nursing Instructors are responsible for didactic and clinical instruction of classes for Practical Nursing students. The individual needs to have a desire and passion for teaching and willingness to take both pride and ownership in the success of their students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom instruction, including lectures, testing, classroom and lab supervision as assigned.
- Develop a course syllabus and provide an approved copy to all invested parties.
- Prepare and utilize approved lesson plans and examinations.
- Prepare student progress reports and grade reports.
- Maintain accurate and timely attendance records.
- Maintain course related records.
- Maintains communication with other faculty and clinical facilities regarding student learning needs.
- Assist in the development and evaluation of curricula, philosophy, and objectives of the program.
- Evaluate student competence based on program philosophy and objectives.
- Implement evaluation devices of student learning and clinical experience to measure progress and competency.
- Maintain professional qualifications through participation in continuing education programs, in-service training, and academic courses.
- Participate in committees and school events, including graduation.
- Perform other duties as required by the Program Administrator or District Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an approved Registered Nursing education program in a jurisdiction as defined in paragraph (S) of rule 4723-5-01 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
- Experience for at least two-years in the practice of nursing as a Registered Nurse.
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
- Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in Ohio
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
- Provide documentation of a clear BCI and FBI Fingerprint Background Check results (Board Policy 3121)
- Provide proof of Tetanus immunization within the past 10 years, two-step TB testing within the past year, Hepatitis B series or signed refusal, proof of MMR or documented disease, and proof of Varicella immunization or documented disease
Certifications:
- American Medical Technologist (AMT) or ability to obtain
- Be able to obtain the Ohio Department of Education Adult Permit.
Effective organizational, planning and project management skills. Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement program options, auxiliary services, and curricular materials that support the diverse learning needs of students. Must be able to communicate well and work collaboratively. Proficiency in operating office equipment and using modern office technology, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, internet browsers, and virtual meeting platforms.

- Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
