Payroll Specialist / Human Resource Generalist
The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for a broad range of human resource duties including payroll, benefit administration, retirement, recruitment, and training.
Essential Job Functions- Maintains personnel records, computes and prepares payroll, posts compensated absences to update individual sick and vacation balances.
- Verifies employment/earnings when requested.
- Forwards workers compensation and insurance forms to the County Insurance/Benefits Coordinator.
- Assists with recruitment initiatives, conducts new hire orientation presentation, and manages new hire paperwork.
- Coordinates training initiatives with HR and Management teams.
- Researches, interviews trainers, coordinates and schedules management, employee, and development training and special events.
- Assists with compliance of all federal and state regulations and government reporting requirements (EEO, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, Department of Labor, OSHA).
- Assists with employee benefit administration, self‑insured workers compensation, policies, and procedures.
This position requires maintaining knowledge of public employee benefits, retirement, and self‑insured workers compensation; performing payroll and related responsibilities; new hire orientation; maintaining employee procedures, guidelines, and documents; overseeing records and employee databases; ensuring compliance with departmental, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Applicants should demonstrate a high degree of initiative and logic, exercise good judgment, exhibit sound decision‑making when faced with complex or unique situations, demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and ethical standards, and consistently deliver general customer service in a professional fashion.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Minimum two years of related experience in this field.
Full Time. Pay:
Starting $20.32 per hour.

- Sick (4.6 hrs./pay), Vacation (3.1 hrs./pay), Personal Days (6/yr. from sick time).
