CNC Machinist - 1st Shift
This role sets up and operates CNC milling machines, including Haas, Makino, and Doosan equipment, to produce high-quality parts in a precision manufacturing environment. The CNC Machinist reads and interprets blueprints and engineering drawings, loads and adjusts programs, and ensures all parts meet strict dimensional and quality requirements while following established safety and company procedures.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including Haas, Makino, and Doosan mills, to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
- Load CNC programs and make necessary machine adjustments to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
- Perform tool changes, set and adjust offsets, and make minor program edits as needed to achieve required dimensions and finishes.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Verify part dimensions and tolerances against engineering specifications and document results accurately.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and recommend or implement corrective actions.
- Monitor machine performance and identify opportunities for process and productivity improvements.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records, including documentation of inspections and any program or setup changes.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established housekeeping standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, shop rules, and company policies while operating equipment and handling materials.
- At least 3 years of CNC milling experience.
- Proven ability to set up CNC milling machines, including selecting tooling, establishing work offsets, and verifying programs.
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret dimensions, tolerances, and geometric features.
- Experience modifying and working with G-code and M-code to adjust or optimize CNC programs.
- Hands-on experience with CNC mills such as Haas, Makino, and Doosan.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for machining processes, tooling issues, and dimensional nonconformances.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and quality procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work safely around machinery and follow all safety procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience performing minor CNC program edits on the shop floor.
- Experience in quality inspection within a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with documenting production and quality data in a manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working with multiple CNC platforms and adapting to different machine controls.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs or setups.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Painesville, OH.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
