Supplier Quality Engineer
The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that suppliers consistently meet defined quality standards and supports continuous improvement across the supply base. This role focuses on conducting supplier audits, developing and implementing quality control procedures, managing non-conformances, and collaborating closely with both suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues and drive robust corrective and preventive actions.
Responsibilities Include
- Conduct supplier audits to verify compliance with established quality standards and regulatory requirements, dedicating an estimated 10% of time to on-site or remote assessments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain supplier quality control procedures and audit plans to ensure consistent product and process quality.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on supplier performance metrics and scorecards, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers to investigate and resolve quality issues, leading root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Manage supplier non-conformance reports, ensuring timely containment, investigation, resolution, and documentation of all issues.
- Participate in supplier selection and qualification activities, including risk assessments and quality evaluations for new vendors.
- Oversee new vendor approvals from a quality perspective, ensuring that suppliers meet all applicable standards before production release.
- Support internal quality initiatives, including internal corrective actions, continuous improvement projects, and cross-functional problem-solving efforts.
- Manage and maintain internal quality documentation related to suppliers, including inspection requirements, specifications, and quality records.
- Coordinate and communicate changes to manufacturing processes and inspection requirements with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) and other data-driven methods to monitor supplier processes and drive improvements.
- Use structured root cause analysis tools to systematically identify underlying issues and verify the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, operations, and procurement to ensure supplier quality requirements are understood and met.
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability for supplier quality performance, proactively driving actions that reduce defects and improve reliability.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Quality or related discipline.
- 3+ years' experience in quality assurance or supplier quality engineering.
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication and proven collaboration with others (suppliers and internal).
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC).
- Experienced with various root cause analysis tools.
Nice to Have
- Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, medical devices, or automotive.
- Formal Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt or higher) or equivalent experience in Six Sigma methodologies.
- Formal Lean certification or demonstrated experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Painesville, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.50 - $53.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
