Position: Child and Youth Care Worker (Nights)

Job Purpose

Working with Kibble’s Night Service Managers, you will operate across our Residential and Community‑Based Services. You will be responsible for the safety and well‑being of our young people throughout the night and provide support during times of crisis.

Main Duties
  • Assessment Phase of the child or young person
  • Reading relevant reports and records
  • Identifying any particular medical, social, religious or dietary requirements
  • Ensuring next of kin are aware of the location and contact details of the establishment
Responsibilities
  • Ensure the child or young person understands the reason for admission, the programme of care, school facilities and visiting arrangements
  • Explain rules, regulations, and procedures for contacting staff with concerns or complaints
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to achieve social and educational targets and support care plans
  • Maintain accurate placement and reporting records as required by the Centre and external agencies
  • Drive school transport as required; a full driving licence is essential
Worker Profile
  • Establish and maintain trustful relationships with children and young people
  • Respond calmly to physical and verbal aggression
  • Prevent bullying, isolation, and substance misuse; intervene when abuse is disclosed
  • Work independently, manage time, and communicate clearly in writing and orally
  • Collaborate with social work, educational psychologists, psychiatrists and other agencies
  • Apply relevant legislation and understand developmental growth and offending behaviour
Qualifications and Experience
  • HNC in Social Care, SVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent; ability to undertake HNC and SVQ Level 3 Social Care
  • Experience of working with young people or providing care/support to vulnerable people is essential
  • Experience with in the social‑care sector is desirable
  • Experience with in residential childcare is desirable
  • Willingness to work across Kibble Group services, including Safe Centre or Community‑Based Services
  • Eligible for registration with the SSSC; preference for candidates already eligible for unconditional registration
  • Full driving licence and willingness to drive school transport
Safe Crisis Training (SCM)
