Job Purpose:
- The EC Lead Teacher (BA) PT at YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is responsible for creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. The role involves planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. The Lead Teacher will collaborate with families and staff to ensure a high-quality early childhood education experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the developmental needs of children and aligns with YMCA standards.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and exploration.
- Assess and document children's progress and development, providing feedback to parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with assistant teachers and staff to ensure effective classroom management and support.
- Communicate regularly with families to build strong partnerships and involve them in their child's learning journey.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing and accreditation standards and YMCA policies.
- Foster a positive and respectful atmosphere among children, staff, and families.
Required
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in early childhood education settings
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum
- Experience in leading and managing a classroom environment effectively
Required
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of child development principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the growth and development of young children
- Proficiency in assessing and documenting children's progress and development
- Capability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with best practices in early childhood education
