Machinist Intermediate - 2nd Shift, Palatine

Base pay range: $27.00/hr – $27.00/hr.

• 2nd shift 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (Mon‑Fri)
• Occasional overtime on Saturdays

Estimated hourly base pay is $27 per hour, with eligibility for S&C’s annual short‑term incentive bonus.

As a Machinist, you will set up and operate CNC turning, vertical and horizontal machining centers, ensuring smooth production and high quality. You will manage setup times, run times, and maintain output standards.

• Set up and operate CNC turning, vertical and horizontal machining centers.
• Handle part pieces ranging from 1 lb to 25 lb.
• Deburr and clean parts with hand or power tools.
• Inspect parts visually and using measurement tools such as height gauges, micrometers and calipers.
• Complete courses offered through S&C Continuous Improvement Institute.

• Ability to read blueprints and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Organize, prioritize and plan daily work assignments in a self‑directed changing environment.
• Knowledge of shop math.
• Proficient use of measuring equipment such as height gauges, micrometers and calipers.
• Understanding of metal‑cutting applications and machine practices.

• Experience with setup and operation of numerically controlled machines.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Standing – most tasks performed standing.
• Lifting – frequent lifts of 1‑25 lb; occasional lifts up to 50 lb.
• Walking – occasional short distances.
• Carrying – frequent carrying of 1‑50 lb items.
• Pushing/Pulling – occasional pushing or pulling of part containers.
• Bending – occasional bending and crouching.
• Reaching – frequent reaching to move parts.
• Handling – continuous handling of piece parts 1‑25 lb.
