Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Description

We are looking for a Controller to lead plant-level financial oversight and deliver accurate, timely insight that supports strong operational decision-making in Palatka, Florida. This role partners closely with leadership to guide reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis while maintaining a disciplined control environment. The ideal candidate brings a solid accounting foundation, sound business judgment, and the ability to translate financial data into practical recommendations for a manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the plant's accounting activities and oversee the preparation of dependable financial reports for management review.

- Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles, ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and deadlines are met.

- Review balance sheet accounts, monitor project-related accounting activity, and help maintain effective financial controls across key processes.

- Analyze plant and project results, identify performance trends, and work with department leaders to address operational and financial improvement opportunities.

- Produce recurring KPI and dashboard reporting in coordination with sales and operations teams to support business visibility.

- Contribute financial analysis to capital investment decisions and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.

- Support the development of the annual operating budget and monthly rolling forecasts through detailed schedules, modeling, and variance analysis.

- Strengthen accounting procedures and transaction workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal control effectiveness.

- Assist leadership with ad hoc financial reviews, cross-functional initiatives, and other special projects as needed.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.

- At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance within manufacturing or construction environment

- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close processes.

- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls, and core accounting principles.

- Familiarity with job costing, percentage-of-completion and project accounting is highly valued.

- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP and financial reporting systems.

- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaborative working skills.
