Position Summary
St. Johns River State College seeks a dedicated individual to serve as a full-time Psychology Instructor. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in psychology courses while supporting student learning and engagement through effective teaching practices. The instructor will also participate in college service activities, departmental collaboration, and professional development in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Instruction

• Provide instruction and office hours as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement

• Employ diverse teaching methods to support various learning styles, academic preparation levels, and nontraditional students

• Commit to continuous improvement of teaching and student learning based on components of academic mindset

• Utilize student engagement strategies in instructional delivery

• Provide accommodations to students with disabilities in a fair and timely manner

• Maintain prompt and regular attendance for assigned classes and office hours

• Teach both lecture and laboratory courses in an asynchronous online format

• Complete required distance learning training during the first semester of employment

College Service

• Prepare for classes, grade assignments and assessments, and evaluate instructional materials

• Develop instructional syllabi and class schedules

• Utilize the Learning Management System effectively

• Provide timely feedback to students and refer students to appropriate support services

• Record and report grades and attendance promptly

• Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes

• Participate in department, division, and college planning, assessment, and accreditation activities

• Attend committee, department, division, and college meetings

• Participate in commencement ceremonies and college-wide initiatives

• Mentor and evaluate other faculty members as assigned

• Support student activities and clubs

Professional Development and Program Support

• Participate in professional development activities as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement

• Coordinate with the dean, associate dean, curriculum coordinator, and faculty to support departmental operations and program effectiveness

• Assist with program planning, curriculum development, assessment, and continuous program improvement

• Teach daytime, evening, and online classes as assigned
