Class and Grade

This Position is a Part-Time Instructional Position and receives $700 per credit hour.
Position Summary
St. Johns River State College is accepting applications for an Adjunct Speech Instructor to teach SPC 1608 - Fundamentals of Speech on an as-needed basis. The instructor will prepare and deliver high-quality instruction, assess student learning, and support student success through effective teaching practices in communication and public speaking.

Duties and Responsibilities

INSTRUCTION & CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

• Teach SPC 1608 - Fundamentals of Speech using effective, student-centered instructional methods.

• Prepare and deliver course materials, lessons, and assessments according to College and departmental guidelines.

• Evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade and attendance records.

• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

• Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and professional learning environment.
CURRICULUM & COMPLIANCE

• Follow established course learning outcomes and approved syllabi.

• Ensure compliance with College policies, departmental guidelines, and accreditation standards.

• Submit required documentation such as syllabi, attendance reports, and final grades by stated deadlines.
STUDENT SUPPORT & PROFESSIONALISM

• Advise students on academic concerns related to the course.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, faculty, and staff.

• Participate in departmental communication and attend required meetings or trainings when applicable.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a qualifying field OR a master's degree with18 graduate semester hours in any combination of:
Speech, Oratory, Forensics, Persuasion, Rhetoric, or Communications

• College-level teaching experience preferred.

• Willingness to teach on campus as needed.

• Applicant must pass verification of employment/reference screening and a background check.

• This position is not eligible for Veterans' Preference.
