Student Employment - Viking Mascot

This position is available exclusively to currently enrolled SJR State students and pays $15 per hour.

This position requires a FAFSA on file and is available only to current SJR State students who are eligible for student employment during the current semester. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Applicants must successfully pass employment verification, reference screening, and a background check. This position is not eligible for Veteran's Preference.

• Represent SJR State as the Viking mascot at college and community events.
• Promote school spirit and engage with students, fans, and community members.
• Entertain and interact with audiences of all ages using non-verbal communication and the mascot's personality.
• Participate in parades, community events, graduation, open houses, athletic events, and other College activities.
• Participate in College marketing photos, videos, and promotional activities.
• Maintain a professional and enthusiastic presence while representing SJR State.
• Work flexible hours based on the event schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Current SJR State student eligible for student employment.
• FAFSA must be on file.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• High-energy, outgoing personality with strong non-verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and wear the mascot costume for extended periods.
• Good physical stamina and endurance.
• Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to different environments and situations.
• Height requirement: 5'8"–6'2".
• Must be able to fit within the available costume size; XL or larger sizes cannot be accommodated.
• Eyeglasses cannot be worn while wearing the costume.
