Geographic Information Systems Analyst II Office of Information Technology Job Summary

This is professional work designing, implementing, and managing geographic information system (GIS) projects.

Job Duties
  • GIS and Data Analysis:
    Perform spatial analysis, manage and edit data, and ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control for accuracy. Review land cover and vegetation GIS data for accuracy and proper boundary delineation.
  • Mapping and Applications:
    Develop maps and web/mobile applications. Build and maintain solutions using ESRI tools such as ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Experience Builder, Instant Apps, Dashboards, Survey
    123, and more.
  • Data Stewardship:
    Promote data quality, consistency, security, and accessibility. Assist with the distribution of District GIS data products and services to the public.
  • Geospatial Products and Deliverables:
    Create and edit maps, applications, reports, and other deliverables. Perform digitizing, attribute editing, annotation, and basic spatial analysis. Support ad‑hoc data requests and consultant deliverables including LiDAR and imagery.
  • Technical Support & Documentation:
    Provide IT/GIS support, manage software, networks, and troubleshoot issues. Maintain documentation, SOPs, metadata, and data governance.
  • Training and User Assistance:
    Train and support staff on GIS tools, data, and workflows. Collaborate with subject matter experts and field staff to ensure results and meet project needs.
Knowledge Of
  • Geospatial concepts and solutions, spatial analysis techniques, and cartographic principles.
  • Data management practices and GIS QA/QC practices.
  • ESRI software and tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise web and mobile applications.
  • District land cover and vegetation types; ability to interpret aerial imagery and maps.
  • GIS workflows, data, editing, metadata, and general GIS concepts and techniques.
Skilled In
  • Providing excellent customer service and communicating technical information in written, verbal, electronic, and visual formats.
  • Performing GIS analysis and creating maps, reports, and geospatial products.
  • Using ESRI software and tools, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise web and mobile applications.
  • Photo interpretation, GIS editing, and metadata creation.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver GIS solutions.
Ability To
  • Analyze geospatial data and produce accurate GIS products.
  • Develop maps, dashboards, and web applications using ESRI technology.
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, planning, computer science, a physical or natural science, or a related field and two years of experience in GIS with working knowledge of information technology principles, including enterprise applications, databases, networking, or systems integration.

A master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineered, planning, computer science, a physical or natural science, or a related field can substitute for one year of the required experience; or an associate degree from an accredited community college in computer science or a technical program directly related to GIS and four years of GIS experience with working knowledge of information technology principles, including enterprise applications, databases, networking, or systems integration.

Professional experience as described above may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required college education.

Physical Requirements /Working Environment

General office environment; some travel (occasional weekend and evening work), hours worked over 40 in a single week earn comp time.

Licenses

Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Salary

Starting salary range: $53,580.80 - $66,955.20.
