# Paint & Sandblasting Technician Legal Address - Palatka, FL 32177## Description###
** Position Summary
** The Paint & Sandblasting Technician is responsible for preparing, blasting, cleaning, and coating metal surfaces on marine vessels and shipyard structures. This position supports new vessel construction, repair, and maintenance operations by ensuring surfaces are properly prepared and protected according to shipyard quality and safety standards. Candidates must be comfortable working in industrial environments, confined spaces, and at various heights.###

Duties & Responsibilities
*** Perform abrasive blasting on aluminum and steel surfaces to remove rust, paint, and contaminants.
* Prepare surfaces for painting by grinding, sanding, cleaning, masking, and solvent wiping.
* Apply industrial marine coatings, primers, and paints using spray equipment, rollers, and brushes.
* Operate and maintain sandblasting and painting equipment safely and efficiently.
* Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications and technical data sheets.
* Inspect surfaces before and after blasting and painting to ensure quality standards are met.
* Work from blueprints, work instructions, and coating specifications.
* Maintain proper environmental and containment procedures during blasting and painting operations.
* Perform touch-up painting and coating repairs as needed.
* Assist with cleaning and maintaining work areas, tools, and equipment.
* Follow OSHA, shipyard, and company safety procedures at all times.
* Wear required PPE including respirators, blast hoods, harnesses, and protective clothing.
* Work closely with supervisors, QA personnel, and production teams to meet project schedules.## Qualifications###
** Qualifications
* ** High school diploma or GED preferred.
* Shipyard, industrial, or marine painting experience preferred.
* Experience with abrasive blasting and industrial spray painting equipment.
* Knowledge of marine coatings, surface preparation standards, and safety procedures.
* Ability to read and understand basic work instructions and coating specifications.
* Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and extreme weather conditions.
* Must be capable of lifting materials and equipment as required.
* Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work within a team environment.###
** Preferred Experience
*** Experience in marine or heavy industrial environments.
* Familiarity with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards.
* Forklift, aerial lift, or confined space certifications are a plus.
* Experience working on aluminum and steel vessels preferred.###
** Physical Requirements
*** Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work for extended periods.
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to work in noisy, dusty, humid, and physically demanding environments.
* Ability to wear respiratory protection and PPE for extended durations.###
