The Nurse Residency Program at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital provides you with the tools necessary to succeed in today’s hospital environment. This paid program will assist you with the transition out of the classroom setting through a formalized series of learning experiences, including:
- Advanced clinical training in a specialty area
- Monthly educational sessions
- Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
- Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations
- Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
- Working collaboratively on an evidence-based practice project

Role and Responsibilities
- The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department requirements and applicable standards, in collaboration with medical providers and the care team.
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document care in the patient medical record promptly and accurately.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and notify the provider if adverse or unintended responses occur.
- Respond promptly to patient requests, strive to anticipate needs, and provide compassionate care.
- Educate patients, families and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and follow-up measures; translate complex medical terminology for understanding.
- BLS‑AHA Provider card required within 30 days of start
- ACLS obtained within 1 year of employment
- Other certifications may be required during employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required;
Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain Florida license after relocation - No previous experience required
- Some travel may be needed for training
