Position SummaryThe FSQA Supervisor will oversee all quality and food safety activities during Day Shift. This includes monitoring production practices, verifying compliance with HACCP and SSOPs, leading sanitation and GMP audits, managing documentation, and coaching team members to uphold food safety culture. You’ll also coordinate with operations and sanitation to ensure efficient and compliant production of all products.
Job Responsibilities Daily Operations:- Lead pre‑operational inspections, ensuring sanitation effectiveness and equipment cleanliness prior to startup
- Verify critical control points (CCPs), product temperatures, metal detector function, and labeling accuracy
- Conduct GMP, sanitation, and environmental audits during production and ensure immediate corrective actions are taken
- Review, verify, and file production and quality documentation (e.g., HACCP logs, SSOPs, metal detection records, allergen checklists)
- Ensure compliance with FDA, FSMA, USDA, and SQF standards
- Investigate deviations from food safety programs and lead root cause analysis
- Maintain and update food safety programs, including HACCP plans and prerequisite programs
- Participate in USDA NRs (Noncompliance Records) resolution and implement corrective actions (Primarily a FDA Plant, additionally we run USDA products)
- Oversee regulatory audits and third‑party inspections during shift, including documentation retrieval and plant floor representation
- Monitor adherence to product specifications including weight, appearance, batter/breading adhesion, and overall presentation
- Lead sensory evaluations, retain sample checks, and in‑process defect inspections
- Manage quality holds, rework protocols, and product disposition
- Monitor ingredient lot traceability and support mock recalls or traceability drills
- Train and mentor FSQA technicians and production staff on HACCP, GMPs, allergens, foreign material control, and sanitation procedures
- Foster a strong food safety culture by driving accountability and continuous education
- Serve as the shift liaison for FSQA and Operations to resolve in‑shift issues in real time
- Support cross‑functional projects related to new product introductions, shelf‑life validations, and process improvements
- Maintain accurate records and compile daily, weekly, and monthly FSQA reports for leadership review
- Track trends in customer complaints, quality incidents, and audit results; identify preventive actions
- Proactively recommend changes in policies, procedures, and processes to improve compliance and efficiency
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as applicable
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of FSQA experience in a FDA/ USDA‑inspected food manufacturing facility (breaded/frozen food preferred)
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in FSQA or food production strongly preferred
- HACCP, PCQI, Internal Auditor, or GFSI‑related certifications are a plus
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong documentation, organizational, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage shift priorities
