Job SummaryThe Facilities / Senior Trades Worker supports the safe, efficient, and effective operation of district buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting facility issues, performing routine maintenance and repairs, responding to service requests, assisting with office and workspace setup, and coordinating with service providers. Work may be assigned throughout the district’s jurisdiction. This position reports to the Facilities Program Manager.
Job Duties- Perform facility inspections, including operational, maintenance, safety, and health inspections, and correct or report findings.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs for district buildings, grounds, and facility systems. This may include commercial and residential HVAC and generator systems; plumbing, landscaping, carpentry, wall repair, painting offices, and common areas, as well as all related duties as assigned by the Facilities Program Manager.
- Respond to facility work orders and service requests in a timely manner.
- Assist with office, meeting, and event setup, including furniture and equipment moves.
- Monitor contracted maintenance services such as janitorial, pest control, landscaping, and other related services and report findings to the program manager.
- Maintain accurate records in the electronic work order system.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and staff to support facility operations.
- Travel to district sites as needed to perform assigned duties.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
A high school diploma or G.E.D. and four years of experience in the trade assigned; or formal education may substitute for work experience.
Required Skills- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; work in small or confined areas; lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; pull and push furniture; grasp tools, equipment, and materials; stoop or crouch; familiar with electrical wiring and identification through color coding; quickly identify air leaks, bearing grinding, and other sounds; and work outdoors in all Florida weather conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, other work units, and contractors; understand project assignments; monitor contractual staff; and work independently as required.
Commercial and residential HVAC and generator maintenance; operating building automation systems; carpentry, plumbing, and electrical knowledge; experience in painting, irrigation, landscaping, and relevant facilities maintenance tasks.
Physical Requirements /Working EnvironmentOffice and field work. As needed, outdoor environments in Florida weather conditions; lift and/or move equipment; maintain safety priority; make effective, consistent, and defensible decisions. Requires working in areas with limited space.
LicensesValid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Additional DetailsThe district will provide uniform shirts, work boots, tools/supplies, and vehicles to perform tasks. Traveling between various work sites is considered work time.
The district has determined this to be a mandatory‑testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment for a mandatory testing position will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by the district. CompensationStarting salary: $38,188.80 – $43,680.00, based on qualifications and experience.
