Senior Data Officer

Senior Data Officer – Amman, Jordan

Contract duration: 6 months. Starting date: 1 August 2026.

• Serve as the technical lead for quantitative data management and analysis across assigned research cycles, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality analytical outputs.
• Lead the implementation of quantitative methodologies, sampling approaches, data management systems, and statistical analyses, while supporting continuous improvement of analytical workflows.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical guidance to Data Officers and assessment teams, contributing to methodological consistency and operational efficiency.
• Support assessment teams on sampling strategies, research design, and quantitative analysis plans.
• Oversee validation of data collection tools, lead the development of data cleaning and analysis scripts, and coordinate the production of dashboards, summary tables, and statistical briefs.
• Coordinate with the Data Specialist, Research Managers, and relevant assessment teams to align technical priorities, timelines, and deliverables, proactively resolving methodological and operational challenges throughout the research cycle.

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in the humanitarian field.
• Proficiency and proven experience with quantitative research methods, including sampling design and statistical analysis.
• Advanced knowledge of statistical software such as R, Stata, or Python and willingness to learn additional tools.
• Strong statistical and analytical skills, with experience designing and implementing sampling methodologies in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Experience with ArcGIS or Power BI an advantage.
• Sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to respond constructively to feedback in high‑pressure or sensitive situations.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in volatile and fast‑paced environments.
• Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting; strong presentation and coordination skills.
• Academic qualification:
  Master’s degree preferred in Computer/Data Science, Statistics, Social Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Experience operating in a cross‑cultural environment and in complex security settings.
• Previous experience in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt) is desirable.
• Fluency in English required; competency in Arabic is an asset.
