SUMMARY/SCOPE/GOAL To assist certified personnel in achieving instructional goals through participation in curricular activities and supervision of students. QUALIFICATIONS PARAPROFESSIONAL I (GRADE 18) EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited educational institution with at least 30 semester hours in general education core curriculum and/or child development and education or successful completion of the Para Pro test with a score of 457 or higher.
- Experience working with children.
- A Head Start Preschool assistant teacher must meet at least one of the these criteria:
- Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preschool level);
- Possess a State-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds CDA requirements;
- Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree;
- Be enrolled in a CDA credential program, with the expectation of completion within 2 years of hire. PREFERRED/DESIRED: PARAPROFESSIONAL II (GRADE 19) EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED: - Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited educational institution required.
