Job Description:

The SDA T1 infrastructure team leverages Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) in delivering modern solutions to support customer operations and information management services.

We value a strong knowledge of software development best practices and experience delivering & deploying Cloud-ready applications and services. Seeking software engineers to join our dynamic team, focusing on operating, maintaining, and sustaining an AWS cloud operational system.

Essential Functions:

* Monitor and implement updates from AWS and third-party suppliers

* Maintain and enhance our Kubernetes-based cloud architecture
* Implement and maintain security automation using AWS Event Bridge, Guard Duty, and Inspector

* Support Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions using Keycloak

* Assist in migrating third-party tool chains to AWS native solutions

* Assist with the design, build, deployment, and maintenance of cloud and/or hybrid infrastructure necessary to reliably host, run, and support applications through all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).

* Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for our Satellite Ground Systems. This role involves close collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance software solutions.
* Design, implement, and test Java-based applications and software components for satellite ground systems.

* Lead continuous improvement initiatives, driving adoption of Dev Ops pipelines, automated testing, containerization (Kubernetes), and cloud deployment practices across the enterprise.

* Work collaboratively with systems and SI&T engineers to analyze, implement, and test system modification requests to the existing system baseline.

* Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

* Experience working in a continuous integration/continuous development environment, and CI/CD pipelines.

* Experience developing and deploying containerized applications using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or equivalent.

* Experience with the Kubernetes Container Network Interface (CNI) and Custom Resource Definitions (CRD)

* Experience of networking principles and security best practices in an AWS cloud environment

* Experience with Linux environments, including scripting, configuration, and software deployment.

* Experience with AWS services such as license management

* Experience with configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, Open Tofu, Cloud Formation). Preferred Additional

Skills:

* Familiarity with Agile workflow tools and collaborative version-control practices (Git, JIRA, Confluence, etc.)

* Experience with container observability tools such as Prometheus, PromQL, and Grafana
* Experience with Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)

* Experience implementing security best practices in cloud environments

* Experience managing licenses within cloud environments

* Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (Splunk sidecar, Cloud Watch, AWS Forwarder, etc.)

* Experience with iterative software development processes (Agile, SCRUM, Kanban)
