Job Description

The Quality Engineer monitors and improves the quality of operational processes and outputs on a daily basis. In this role, you design and maintain quality standards, establish and follow robust processes, develop and implement quality control systems, and determine effective corrective actions. You collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement quality measures and apply quality control principles that ensure the reliability, safety, and effectiveness of products and services.

Responsibilities

* Lead the development, maintenance, and deployment of quality plans that translate customer requirements into clear, actionable activities.

* Drive process and product improvement initiatives across multiple functional disciplines to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency.

* Review and approve internal engineering and supplier documentation, providing input to ensure appropriate quality requirements are clearly defined and addressed.

* Provide ongoing quality system support, including performing internal audits and ensuring effective implementation of root cause corrective actions.

* Lead quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards, and Failure Review Boards to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

* Coordinate with quality and engineering personnel to create First Article Inspection (FAIR) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages for customer submission, and manage changes as needed.

* Assist in evaluating and dispositioning non-conforming material in a timely and thorough manner.

* Provide technical support for assembly, test, and inspection personnel, including executing workmanship improvement plans and developing inspection methods and criteria.

* Specify appropriate sampling plans, interpret and revise specifications, and process non-conforming materials in alignment with quality standards.

* Act as a key contributor in resolving customer quality issues, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and product quality concerns.

* Develop and deploy Statistical Process Control (SPC) initiatives internally and at suppliers to monitor and improve process capability.

* Evaluate and make recommendations on critical supplier selections and drive supplier continuous improvement, including leading on-site audits and evaluating prototypes.

* Review and approve supplier corrective actions and new procedures to address all aspects of quality performance.

* Compile and generate statistical reports on inspection activities and results, as well as new product or process testing outcomes, and recommend actions based on findings.

* Coordinate scheduling and ensure compliance for calibration and verification of inspection and test equipment.

* Ensure all customer shipments include proper and complete quality documentation.

* Support, communicate, reinforce, and uphold the mission, values, and culture of the organization in all quality-related activities.

* Perform all tasks safely while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

* Maintain cooperative, professional, and constructive interactions with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.

* Perform other related duties as required to support the quality function and business objectives.

Essential Skills

* At least 2 years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a closely related role.

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

* Hands-on experience coding and using quality assurance (QA) software tools and processes.

* Proficiency with ISO standards, including ISO 9001, and experience with AS9100 requirements.

* Practical experience with Six Sigma tools and statistical analysis tools.

* Strong background in quality control, quality assurance, and quality management systems.

* Experience in supplier quality engineering, including supplier auditing, supplier qualification, and supplier monitoring using supplier scorecards.

* Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 procedure writing and auditing.

* Competence in problem-solving methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis, 8D, 5 Whys, and DMAIC.

* Ability to understand and interpret military and customer specifications and to read and analyze engineering drawings.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

* Comprehensive computer skills and the ability to work effectively with digital documentation and quality systems.

* Excellent math skills to support data analysis, statistical evaluation, and measurement activities.

* Superior documentation and reporting skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and thorough quality records and reports.

* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and writing skills.

* Demonstrated ability to define problems, analyze data, identify root causes, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
