Produce Clerk

Job Summary

Sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. Maintains the overall environment of the department by providing assistance to Members through product knowledge and customer service. Ensures that all produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

• Perform daily maintenance tasks to keep the produce department clean, organized, and stocked with promotion and signage.
• Assist Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas.
• Generate signage for produce goods and perform price checks, ensuring items are accurately priced and signed.
• Follow guidelines for disposal of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Print and display accurate signage for produce items as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as required.
• Maintain regular, full attendance; attendance is an essential function of this job.

• Assist Members in the produce department, answering questions, recommending products, and providing safe handling tips.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep displays neat and clean.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area, date and rotate back‑stock items, and keep storage organized.
• Follow disposal guidelines for damaged or expired products.
• Assist Fresh Manager with inventory, order processing, and other tasks as needed.
• Clean and sanitize all produce equipment and display cases, including the cooler and refrigerated displays.
• Generate and display accurate signage for produce goods, ensuring correct pricing.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including work in other departments.
• Ensure regular, predictable attendance.

• Preferred work experience in a produce department.
• Knowledge of fruit and vegetables, including seasonal items.
• Minimum age of 18 years.

• Frequent movement on hard surfaces, bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, and reaching.
• Frequent lifting of objects up to 30 pounds; heavier objects may require assistance.
• Exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers in a comfortable indoor environment.

In accordance with Pay Transparency requirements, this position’s starting compensation range is $16.25 per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
