Security Officer

Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the part‑time position of Security Officer at the Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay and Titusville campuses.

The hourly rate is $16.00
. This position has been approved for up to 32 hours per week. Officers may be permitted to work more than their scheduled hours if funding is available and an operational need exits.

Ensure security and safety of EFSC students, faculty, staff, visitors, and physical facilities; enforce College policies and regulations on (Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay, Titusville) Campus. This position is available through Lyneer Staffing Solutions; however, applicants are under the supervision of EFSC Security Dept.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Class D Security License from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services preferred, but not required. Selected candidates will be expected to obtain a Class D Security License from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services after being hired, at the discretion of the College.
• Previous or current law enforcement, corrections, or Probation Officers are preferred.
• Knowledge of legal guidelines for security and public safety.
• Ethical, confident and dependable.
• Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
• A review of Social Media activity will be part of the candidate evaluation process.
• This position will require successful fingerprinting and substance screening. The candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fees (currently $36.00/$65.15). The fingerprinting and substance screening fees ($36.00/$65.15) are non‑refundable.

• Must pass a vigorous background investigation to include fingerprint screening and drug testing.

• Light lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.).

• Walking long distances.

• Must adapt to frequent interruptions due to telephones, staff, student, and other customer traffic.

• Uneven surfaces.
• Bright/dim light.
• Poorly‑ventilated areas.
• Noisy conditions.
• Heights.
