Embedded Software Engineer – (Military & Commercial Programs)
Long-Term Contract
Melbourne, FL
We are partnering with multiple aerospace and defense organizations seeking Embedded Software Engineers to support next-generation avionics, flight control systems, and mission-critical platforms across both military and commercial aviation programs.
This is an opportunity to work on highly reliable, safety-critical systems that operate in real-time environments, contributing to aircraft performance, navigation, communications, and control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for avionics and aerospace systems
- Work in real-time operating systems (RTOS) environments to support deterministic performance
- Develop low-level drivers, middleware, and application-layer software in C/C++
- Interface with hardware teams for board bring-up, debugging, and integration
- Participate in full software lifecycle: requirements, design, coding, testing, and verification
- Support compliance with aerospace standards such as DO-178C and related certification processes
- Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and system validation in lab and flight-test environments
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in embedded software development
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
- Experience with RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, QNX, FreeRTOS, or similar)
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet)
- Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers
- Aerospace or defense background (avionics, flight controls, radar, communications systems)
- Knowledge of DO-178C, ARINC 429/664, or MIL-STD protocols
- Experience with safety-critical or high-reliability systems
- Exposure to model-based development (MATLAB/Simulink)
- Familiarity with secure or mission-critical environments
