Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

The Operations Supervisor leads production activities across assembly and packaging operations for an assigned shift. This role manages a manufacturing team, driving performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and service. The Supervisor plays a meaningful role in developing talent, ensuring readiness for new product introductions (NPI), and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
In compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations-and in alignment with Johnson & Johnson corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines-the Operations Supervisor is responsible for directing manufacturing activities, developing team capabilities, and ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production performance. The role requires strong collaboration across functions, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading day-to-day operations of electromechanical assembly and non-sterile packaging functions.
- Recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing a high-performing manufacturing team; supporting onboarding and cross-training to build a flexible workforce.
- Partnering with engineering, planning, and quality teams to support NPI readiness and drive process improvements.
- Facilitating daily tier meetings and ensuring effective communication across teams and shifts.
- Driving operational efficiency through waste-reduction initiatives and Lean activities, including cost-reduction projects, kaizen events, and 6S leadership.
- Investigating quality issues, collaborating with Quality Assurance for timely resolution, and ensuring audit readiness for corporate, notified body, and FDA audits.
- Resolving operational challenges promptly to minimize disruptions and ensure on-time delivery.
Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent University degree required; focused degree in technical or business discipline preferred.
Required
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing or production operations and quality systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- People leadership experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience
- Experience in the medical device industry or broader medical field.
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
