Job SummaryProvide general assistance to our patients in any service and complete any process or application for them to receive benefits through the local resources and the Government Assistance Programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assist patients/visitors with the completion of applications for SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare Saving Program, or any other Government benefit program, including the submission of verifications and general information regarding the application process.
- Assist patients/visitors with calls related to benefits and provide printer, fax, and copy machine support for any application related documents.
- Help patients/visitors activate or request their Electronic Benefits Transfer card (EBT).
- Assist patients with the application of Medicare, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security card, change of status, or any other benefit related to Social Security Administration (SSA).
- Assist patients in completing the application for the naturalization process and follow up until the end of the process.
- Complete the application for an American passport and schedule an appointment at the corresponding office to complete the process.
- Assist patients with the application for government cell phones, affordable high‑speed low‑cost Internet, Home Energy Assistance program (LIHEAP), Housing, Section 8, or any other public assistance benefit.
- Assist patients with the application for special transportation services, bus pass, or disabled person parking permit.
- Participate in the department monthly meetings and/or service trainings to maintain standards certifications.
- Handle complaints from patients and/or family members as appropriate.
- Complete all processes and handle all confidential information in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
- Ensure that all HIPAA standards are met.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all company policies.
- Complete annual trainings related to Social Services and those required by the company.
No supervisory responsibilities.
Education & Experience- High School diploma or equivalent or relevant experience.
- Previous experience in customer service.
- Previous experience with any Government assistance programs and/or Immigration Services.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Excel.
- Skill in operating personal computer, phones, and copier/fax machine.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English, Spanish and/or Creole languages (helpful), and to write routine reports.
- Skill in oral communication and customer service.
- Ability to speak effectively and communicate professionally and courteously with employees, patients, and others.
- Problem‑solving ability and adaptability in situations with limited standardization.
- Attention to detail, ability to interpret instructions, follow process, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy of reports and data.
This position works under usual office conditions and requires use of a personal computer and extended phone use. The employee must stand, sit, walk, and occasionally climb.
Work Conditions- Typing, standing, sitting, stooping, and occasionally climbing.
