Overview
Position:
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Nursing Supervisor for Assisted Living and Independent Living residents. Responsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness and supervising nursing staff to deliver high-quality care in accordance with the corporate philosophy of quality care.
- Supervise Home Health Aides (HHAs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and facility staff to ensure proper nursing care.
- Make daily rounds of all Assisted Living residents and, when needed, Retirement residents.
- Observe and report symptoms and conditions to the Director of Wellness (DOW) / Delegating Registered Nurse / Physician.
- Administer medications and treatments per signed physician orders, ensuring accuracy and safety; observe effectiveness and report to the physician as needed.
- Inform the DOW when supplies and equipment are needed and facilitate proper procurement.
- Oversee medication orders from the pharmacy as required.
- Supervise the HHA to ensure nursing care is delivered properly, safely, and with high quality.
- Provide emergency first aid as needed.
- Ensure daily assignments for patient care and incidental duties performed by nurses and HHAs are carried out; document vitals, weights, nurse notes, medications, kardex, etc.
- Make daily rounds of all patients and areas; recognize, interpret, and report conditions to the DOW/RN/ED as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nurse’s station, medication room, and cart.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff.
- Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary.
- Check equipment for cleanliness and condition.
- Provide guidance for nursing assistants and promote good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and staff.
- Perform related duties as assigned; understand duties and responsibilities for both assisted living and independent residents throughout the facility.
The duties described reflect tasks appropriate for the LPN role. Additional duties may be assigned by the Assisted Living Manager as needed.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per state.
- Work experience in the geriatric field.
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact with visitors, staff, and residents in a courteous manner.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Must maintain good grooming, personal hygiene, punctuality, and regular attendance.
- Professional appearance with a warm, empathetic attitude toward seniors.
- Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed.
- CPR certified or obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained annually.
