Library - Federal Work Study Student Assistant, Palm Desert Campus
The university is seeking motivated undergraduate student to cover the evening shifts at the circulation desk at the Palm Desert Campus Library.
Responsibilities:
- Circulation: checking in and out library materials (books, media, equipment), processing returns.
- Customer Service:
Assisting patrons with locating materials, answering basic questions about library resources and services, and directing patrons to appropriate staff for more in-depth assistance. - Shelving and maintenance:
Shelving books and other materials, keeping the library organized and assisting with stack maintenance. - Technology Assistance:
Helping patrons with library computers, printers and other technology. - Other Job-Related Duties as assigned: opening and closing library (depending on schedule) assisting with special projects, answering phone.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
- Special
Qualification:
Admission or registration as a CSU student.
Required Qualifications:
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Payroll Requirement:
Social Security Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be willing to work nights and evenings.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5. for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduate students.
- Must be a currently enrolled student at CSUSB PDC.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of work.
Compensation and Benefits:
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.

Academic year available hours:
Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hours:
Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
