Hairstylist

Overview

The Hair Stylist provides exceptional salon services to members and guests, including hair cutting, coloring, styling, and treatments for both men and women. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality services with professionalism, while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and outstanding client care in accordance with California State Board regulations and BIGHORN standards.

• Perform comprehensive salon services including shampooing, cutting, blow drying, coloring, and styling for men and women.
• Consult with clients regarding style preferences, facial features, and hair conditions to recommend appropriate services.
• Execute all styling techniques such as cutting, trimming, curling, setting, bleaching, dyeing, tinting, and applying hair/scalp treatments.
• Remain up to date on current trends in hair cutting, coloring, and styling.
• Ensure timely arrival for shifts and appointments, and complete services within the scheduled timeframe.
• Provide services independently while maintaining professionalism.
• Address client questions and concerns courteously and effectively.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of salon workstations, tools, and equipment.
• Properly care for tools and manage inventory usage to support cost control.
• Educate clients on recommended services, products, and at-home hair care routines.
• Comply with all sanitation and sterilization standards as required by California law and spa policy.
• Actively promote spa services, retail products, memberships, and special promotions.
• Support retail goals through client education and recommendations.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education as required.
• Assist with general spa operations as directed by management.
• Leadership – Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify company values, and represent departmental objectives.
• Teamwork – Foster teamwork and cooperation among co-workers.
• Safety – Follow established safety procedures and participate in safety training.

• Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two (2) years of professional experience as a hair stylist in a high-end salon, spa, or resort environment.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• High attention to detail and technical precision.
• Knowledge of current hair techniques and product trends.
• Ability to develop personalized service plans based on individual client needs.
• Basic computer proficiency for client scheduling and point-of-sale systems.
• Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Positive attitude and strong commitment to team success and client satisfaction.
• Required Licenses/Certifications
• Valid and current California State Cosmetology License (required).
