ShiftMorning shift. Looking for highly motivated and energetic staff members to engage with our members and their children.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for direct supervision of children and implementing planned activities.
Education, Training and ExperienceMinimum age 16 years and ability to work well with children. Preferred understanding of the YMCA’s mission and goals.
Required certifications and trainings:
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (within 90 days of hire)
- Intro to the Y’s Cause & Culture, Y’s Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You:
Service with CARE (upon hire) - Kids Zone University;
Preventing Sexual Abuse Between Young Children;
Principles of Youth Development;
Youth Relationships:
Creating Positive Interactions;
Youth Affirms:
Distinguishing Between Praise and Encouragement (within 90 days of hire) - Introduction to S.A.F.E, Foundations of Listen First, and Engaging with Families trainings (within 6 months of hire)
- Get SMART preferred
Must understand their relationship to the children, parents, the Branch, and the YMCA. Must possess character above reproach and worthy of emulation by the children. Shows maturity and ability to relate to children from all social/economic segments of the community. Must possess effective communication and organizational skills.
Physical and/or Mental RequirementsMay be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; stand for extended periods while performing job functions; maintain physical endurance in all weather conditions; stay alert at all times; possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities.
Job Duties- Provide leadership and guidance for children.
- Acquaint children with rules, activities, daily schedules, and area.
- Ensure safety and welfare of each child, including attendance.
- Report all accidents to the supervisor and complete required health logs or incident forms.
- Plan, organize, and implement activity plans for special interest activities.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment; report suspicious activity that may indicate child abuse or violate code of conduct; keep supplies organized; maintain and clean facility; care for equipment; inventory and clean up after activities.
