Job Summary
The Network Operations Center Technician (NOCT) is responsible for monitoring, managing, and adhering to Geographic Solutions standards for proactive enterprise systems, infrastructure, network, security, and application monitoring. The NOCT will support all of the Geographic Solutions monitoring and operations toolsets, including but not limited to Solar Winds® Orion, Zabbix, Pure Storage®, Nimble Storage, VMware Virtual Center, and other point tools.
Candidate RequirementsCandidate must work at the corporate office in Palm Harbor, FL daily and is required to work a night shift of 7PM - 7AM.
Duties and Responsibilities- Work within standard three-tier Internet-facing web services and infrastructure environments in a Microsoft® based environment.
- Maintain, train and mentor others, and evolve our enterprise monitoring, alerting, reporting, and analysis suite to manage our SaaS client environments and the corporate infrastructure.
- Create support tickets and ensure incidents are resolved.
- Monitor scheduled SQL jobs, SFTP file deliveries, SSIS package completions and provide escalations as needed.
- Respond to alerts and notify internal and external teams to assist in problem resolution.
- Assist in conference call setups for outages, initiate swat calls to engage technical resources, and diagnose problems.
- Collect information for Root Cause Analysis documentation for customers on a timely basis.
- Understand basic troubleshooting for web, SQL, SFTP, file servers, Windows Server 2012/2019, IIS, application pools, SQL Server 2012/2016/2019, SQL clustering, secure remote access, SANs, MPLS, VPNs, and Terminal Services.
- Maintain and follow company MAC processes and push monitoring templates to NOC tool sets.
- Document all server specifications, inventory, model numbers, processor specs, memory, licensing, versions, patches, changes, topology, and physical connectivity drawings.
- Assist with Problem and Incident Management, including triage, severity and impact determination, ticket creation, support notification, escalation, communication, and documentation of impact statements or Root Cause Analysis when applicable.
- Perform shift work as required.
- Work weekends as required.
- 1-2 years operational experience with proactive monitoring and reporting tools such as Solar Winds Orion, Zabbix, or similar enterprise-based tools.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, network monitoring, firewalls, load balancers, switching and routing, and network sniffers.
- Ability to monitor, report, and perform capacity planning on SAN solutions such as Compellent, EMC, and Nimble.
- Ability to troubleshoot Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, DNS, IDS/IPS, and other utility applications.
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting web service issues from browser to database tier, focusing on IIS, application pools, console apps, scripts, and web services.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to present findings and make decisions in a fast-paced growing environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize commitments and responsibilities daily under pressure in a growing company with changing environments, new client commitments, and shifting deadlines.
- Ability to work and communicate with internal and external clients/customers and other technical functional organizations.
- Excellent oral, written, and mentoring skills.
- Attention to detail in maintaining architecture, support, and procedure documentation.
- Team player and key contributor within a progressive growth path.
- Self-starter and technology enabler representing IT Team and Geographic Solutions on projects and in meetings with internal IT groups, business representatives, clients, and vendors.

- Associate degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or work experience considered if at least one year in a similar position.
- Microsoft certification (MCP, MCSE, MCITP, MCDBA).
- Physical requirements may include but are not limited to:
Ability to lift 50 lbs, sit or stand for long periods, stay awake during evening and night shifts. - May also be assigned various projects and tasks as needed.
