Job Overview

As an Auto Body Technician at The Boyd Group in FL Palm Harbor, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by meticulously assessing and repairing each vehicle to restore it to pre‑accident condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistent execution of the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
  • Plan necessary repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
  • Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
  • Hammers out dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible.
  • Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
  • Remove damaged vehicle sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
  • Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
  • Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
  • Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place and prepare vehicles for repainting with factory‑specified paint or an agreed‑upon equivalent.
  • Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
  • Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure work has been executed correctly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
  • Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
  • Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
  • Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
Other Requirements
  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
Compensation

$23 – $32 / Hour. Flat Rate compensation is a performance‑based structure directly tied to turned hours (booked hours). If total compensation in a pay period is less than minimum wage, clocked hours will be calculated with a guarantee of applicable local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater. Supplemental pay may be eligible for bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
