Sign Physician ASST - HEART Surgery

Full-time position for a Physician Assistant in Open Heart Surgery with a $10K sign-on bonus.

Requirements include 5+ to 7 years of experience.

Our Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital, classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility. We offer a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

The Physician Assistant will perform duties under the supervision of a licensed physician, including:

• Assisting in the operating room during surgical procedures.
• Performing endoscopic vein harvests under surgeon supervision.
• Wound closure as the first assistant under surgeon supervision.
• Assisting the cardiac nursing team with case and room preparation.
• Managing case pulls and inventory control.
• Transporting patients to the OR and ICU as needed.
• Maintaining inventory for surgical procedures.
• Pre-operative patient hair removal.
• Assisting OR staff with patient positioning and table operation.

Must understand complex instructions, respond quickly in emergencies, and possess strong clerical skills. Must hold current licensure from the Physician’s Assistants Examining Committee of the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.

The supervising physician must be licensed in California, approved to supervise Physician Assistants, and a current member of the hospital's medical staff.

The supervising physician must agree in writing to accept full responsibility for the PA's activities and confirm that the PA has current CPR certification.
