- Manage day‑to‑day shift operations in the Emergency Department.
- Lead and develop staff, including hiring, evaluation, counseling, and performance documentation.
- Ensure timely completion of performance reviews and required training for all personnel.
- Maintain current records of employee certifications, licensure, and continuing education.
- Optimize staffing based on acuity data and projected patient needs.
- Implement labor and supply cost controls to meet budget targets and identify savings opportunities.
- Coordinate and administer scheduling, trauma team participation, and YTD labor hour compliance.
- Facilitate inter‑departmental interactions, quality improvement, and policy review.
- Provide feedback, problem‑solving, and communication with the Director and broader organization.
- Support risk management, infection control, and patient safety initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of short‑ and long‑term departmental strategic plans.
- Integrate patient‑care improvement initiatives into daily operations.
- Maintain knowledge of Emergency/Trauma field best practices and guidelines.
- Act as a team member within the department and across the organization to advance hospital goals.
- Current California RN license
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
- Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Completion of an EKG test within 30 days of hire
- MICN, TNCC, and CPI certifications within specified time frames after hire
- NIHSS competency within 30 days of entry into the position
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or ENPC
- Prior management experience
- Cognitive Performance Improvement (CPI) certification within 3 months of hire
