Tenet Desert – Registered Nurse (RN) Manager, Infection Control
Location:
Palm Springs, California. 36 hours per week, 12‑hour shifts, full time staff.
The Infection Prevention Manager directs and coordinates the infection control program in the hospital. The designated person will have authority to implement and enforce the surveillance, prevention and control program policies. They coordinate all infection prevention and control activities within the hospital and monitor effectiveness. They work with the Infection Prevention Medical Director and coordinate activities to ensure regulatory and state compliance.
They train and oversee Infection Control Practitioners to ensure consistency in prevention practices.
- Create and implement in‑service programs for infection prevention and control.
- Prepare and present the Annual Infection Control Evaluation and Plan.
- Coordinate Infection Control Committee meetings, prepare agenda, take minutes, and meet regulatory standards.
- Act as Infection Control Champion for the Joint Commission and implement house‑wide initiatives for compliance.
- Prepare and maintain the Infection Control Manual consistent with federal regulations and Joint Commission standards, and distribute updates to relevant departments.
- Communicate committee actions and complete action plans.
- Develop and implement actions for identified infection control issues using surveillance data.
- Identify areas of improvement and serve as educator for the hospital‑wide infection control program; train new employees, new grads, volunteers, medical residents, and students.
- Provide joint education to medical staff with the Infection Prevention Medical Director.
- Supervise Infection Control Practitioners; provide training and mentorship.
- Consult Occupational Health Services on employee health programs related to infectious diseases and infection control.
- Indicate and report hospital‑acquired infections per the Infection Control Plan.
- Report Corporate Score Card Infection Control initiatives on time and within benchmarks.
- Demonstrate teamwork on projects and take initiative to keep the Chief Quality Officer informed on work‑related issues.
- Report to workstation regularly and respond to calls professionally.
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing, laboratory, or other health‑care related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in infection prevention or related roles, including health‑care management, quality, or patient safety. At least 4 years in infection prevention with prior health‑care experience.
- Continuous Improvement Certification (CIC) required within 2 years of hiring.
- California RN license.
- Degree in epidemiology.
