Dimension & Control Technician 3

We are looking for a Dimension & Control Technician 3 to support a tooling department. The role involves laying out, fabricating, and assembling a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, and master tooling gauges. This position requires planning work, determining methods and sequences of operations, and working from tool design drawings or original designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lay out, fabricate, and assemble a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges, and related tooling.
• Address compound angles and complex contours, establishing and coordinating numerous tooling holes and reference points between several planes to exacting tolerances.
• Plan work to be performed and determine methods and sequence of operations from tool design drawings or own designs.
• Set up and operate optical instruments to check overall and detailed alignment, fit, or adjustment of assemblies.
• Develop and design holding devices and jig and fixture details.
• Prepare operational sequences and shop drawings covering parts fabrication and assembly to be performed by others.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years of related education and/or experience with tool building and laser tracking in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience devising reference systems and creating working build models.
• Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
• Ability to work inside and outside in a warehouse environment and a shop floor environment.
• Ability to work within MS applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of multiple computer-aided metrology systems such as laser trackers, articulated arms, and 6
  
  DoF (Six Degree of Freedom) scanners.
• 6+ years of Tool and Die or related experience.
• Experience in reverse engineering and model building from collected data.
• Knowledge of Integrated Systems Air Frames and Aero Structures.
• Experience with computer-aided graphic interfaces (e.g., Verisurf X, SA, Maya matrix, Build!IT, Polyworks).
