Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Industrial Engineer (Level
2) or a Principal Industrial Engineer (Level
3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA. The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in Palmdale. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Note:
This position can be filled with an Industrial Engineer or Principal Industrial Engineer level. Responsibilities will include:
* Analyzes lead times, queue times, work-in-process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand most effectively and efficiently
* Builds scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow, while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints
* Understands, maps and optimizes critical path product flow through the factory
* Develops optimized scheduling tools and aligns SAP/MRP systems with an executable plan given various capacity constraints
* Incorporates complex interdependencies within a system to account for the interaction of multiple cost centers, programs, equipment, and tools
* Assist with digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies
* Leads and drives positive change using iterative and agile methodologies
* Creates new metrics and data visualizations to monitor shop floor performance Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level
2):
* Bachelor's degree with 1 year of technical and/or engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Master's degree with 0 years of experience
* Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications
* Must have the ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated DoD Secret Security Clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
* Ability to travel at least 10% Basic Qualifications for Principal Industrial Engineer (Level
3):
* Bachelor's degree with 4 years of technical and/or engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Master's degree with 3 years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a PhD degree with 0 years of experience
* Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications
* Must have the ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated DoD Secret Security Clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
* Ability to travel at least 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's of Science STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) degree
* Active DoD Secret Clearance
* Experience working with cross-functional teams in an aircraft or other manufacturing environment
* High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Formulas: VLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH, IF statements, pivot tables, pivot charts etc.)
* High proficiency in Microsoft Project (scheduling, resource loading, capacity, optimization)
* At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading project teams
* Experience with improving manufacturing workflow using optimization, modeling, or simulation methods
* Experience with agile methods of project management or development
* Earned Value Management System (EVMS) "Gold Card" experience/training
* Composite bonding knowledge or experience
* Familiarization with low observable technologies and techniques
