Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Engineering 2 (DMSMS [Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages] and Mod Sim [Modeling and Simulation] Manager) to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position will be full time in the office and located in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA
. This role will support the Product Support EI&E (Engineering Integration and Execution) and lead the DMSMS and Mod Sim team and SOW (Statement of Work) execution. It will coordinate priorities between multiple OU (Operating Units), ensure high‑quality engineering analyses, manage talent development, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and perform CAM (Control Account Manager) duties for both teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Product Support EI&E Director and OU Program Manager objectives.
  • Serve as the technical authority on DMSMS and Mod Sim.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to engineering team members.
  • Coordinate with other DMSMS and Mod Sim leaders across the company to ensure sharing and alignment of best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of shifting best practices, procedures, and USG guidance to influence SOWs and keep Northrop Grumman as a leader in DMSMS and Mod Sim.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Field Support, and other functions to ensure production of high‑quality, technically sound analyses that drive leadership/customer action.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure high‑value technical work is performed and delivered.
  • Oversee execution of DMSMS mitigations by suppliers in coordination with the customer and Business Management.
  • Formally present technical status and solutions to leadership and the customer.
  • Act as the CAM for DMSMS and Mod Sim work packages as needed.
  • Support and shape proposal activities.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with at least 9 years of related experience in DMSMS, Mod Sim, or another related area; or 7 years with Master’s degree in STEM.
  • Must have an active Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable time, as determined by the company.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25%. US citizenship is a requirement for employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current active in‑scope government Top Secret clearance with S1 or V2 special access.
  • Previous experience with contracts and/or program management.
  • Relevant experience in adjacent logistics support elements such as Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), Maintenance Planning, Mod Sim, Support Equipment Engineering (SEE), Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), Supportable Low Observables (SLO), Obsolescence Management, training systems, technical data, support hardware, fleet & field support, and product support management.
  • Previous experience driving process changes/improvements and leading multi‑functional teams on complex tasks, with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills including development and control of program budgets, schedules, and Estimate at Complete (EAC); ability to recognize and capture program changes.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous U.S. military experience with operations and/or aircraft maintenance background.
