Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Systems Test Engineer or Principal Systems Test Engineer in Palmdale, CA. This role participates in the production test team as a subject matter expert for aircraft systems, ensuring testing is conducted safely and efficiently. The position requires proficiency across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines, and involves coordinating between systems engineers and the production execution team throughout the test lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Develop and support acceptance test plans (ATP) and detailed integration test procedures.
- Host test planning working groups and coordinate technical reviews for ATP approvals.
- Lead Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and provide real‑time support during testing.
- Create educational content for execution staff to improve troubleshooting and system awareness.
- Collaborate with design and analysis teams to define test data requirements and coordinate personnel and equipment.
- Participate in post‑test data evaluations and resolve technical discrepancies.
- Develop creative solutions for complex engineering problems under general direction.
- Maintain outstanding written and oral communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Show adaptability and willingness to learn additional disciplines as required.
- Work effectively independently and in a team environment.
- Be willing to work extended shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet program milestones.
- Maintain a thorough and detailed approach in a fast‑paced production environment.
- 4x10A (Mon‑Thurs) – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
- 4x10B (Tue‑Fri) – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
- 3x10 (Fri, Sat, Sun) – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift
Systems Test Engineer
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 2 years of engineering experience, or Master of Science in a STEM discipline.
- Experience in a systems test environment.
- Active U.S. government Secret Clearance or higher.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering concepts.
- Ability to work multiple shifts and willingness to work overtime.
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Principal Systems Test Engineer
- Bachelor with 5 years of engineering experience, or Master with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year of experience.
- Experience in a systems test environment.
- Active U.S. government Secret Clearance or higher.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR).
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering concepts.
- Ability to work multiple shifts and willingness to work overtime.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Current Program SAP Access.
- Experience in test planning, execution, and operations in a production or flight test environment.
- Active U.S. government Top Secret clearance.
- Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering concepts.
