Systems Engineer - Skunk Works - Principal

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor Or Above from an accredited university in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree.
• Experience leading systems engineering activities and processes in a digital engineering or model‑based environment
• Experience with requirements generation and decomposition, tracking, and verification/validation using the DOORS database tool
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience in customer interactions

You will be the Systems Engineer Principal – Level 6 for the Skunk Works Systems Engineering team which is responsible for delivering cutting‑edge mission systems and shaping next‑generation aerospace solutions.

As the Systems Engineer Principal – Level 6 you will be responsible for driving the technical vision of a new Skunk Works product, guiding cross‑functional engineers through requirement development, risk management, and integration.

• Leading requirement decomposition, verification, and Functional Configuration Audits.
• Directing risk assessment and abatement activities, ensuring timely mitigation.
• Developing supplier specifications, Statements of Work (SOWs) and Engineering Requirements Documents (ERDs) for subcontractors and vendors.
• Providing systems and subsystem integration/test support, employing Earned Value Measurement Systems (EVMS) to monitor schedule and cost performance, and partnering with program management to maintain technical integrity.
• Mentoring engineering personnel and championing best practices across the product lifecycle.

You are a detail‑oriented and results‑driven engineer with a strong background in systems engineering and test planning. You excel at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and coordinating complex activities in dynamic environments. Your ability to communicate effectively and adapt to changing requirements sets you apart as a leader in your field. • Ability to work with different engineering disciplines and suppliers to derive, decompose, and verify requirements
• Experience as a technical team lead or leading an IPT
• Experience developing a system architecture
• Knowledge of Agile SAFe methodology
• Work experience with operational modeling tools within the confines of a Risk Managed Framework (RMF)
• Experience with Mission Systems applications
• Previous integration and test experience
• Control Account Manager (CAM) experience; CAM-Certification
