Job Description
Join Lockheed Martin Aeronautics’ cutting‑edge team at the Advanced Development Programs (Skunk Works®) in Palmdale, California, as a full‑time Subsystem Design Engineer. Dive into the heart of aerospace innovation, where you’ll craft and refine aircraft subsystem designs, tackle technical challenges head‑on, and ensure flawless installations. Your role will involve everything from developing and validating new designs to troubleshooting malfunctions, all while collaborating with a diverse array of teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Develop, test, and validate new and modified subsystem designs
- Troubleshoot system malfunctions to determine root cause and corrective action
- Create and maintain 3‑D CATIA models, assemblies, and installations, system requirements, interface/supplier control drawings, performance specifications, system checkout procedures, and statements of work
- Create system requirements, trade studies, sub‑component and flight test plans
- Coordinate with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams, management, and the customer
- Support manufacturing, ground/flight test, and customer operating locations
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering technical discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical
- Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solid Works, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3‑D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool
- Experience creating and/or modifying drawings
- Experience with aircraft subsystem design, installation, and troubleshooting
- Hands‑on engineering experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance per business requirements
- Experience with hand analysis for initial part layout
- Experience with metallic design
- Experience with tubing and equipment installation
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Active Secret Clearance
- 3 years of professional experience; or 1 year of professional experience with a related Master’s degree

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. The facility requires special access.
