Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems has an opening for a Principal / Sr. Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale or El Segundo, CA and is assigned to 1st shift 9/80 schedule. Primary function is structural modification stress analysis and manufacturing engineering supporting a high paced development effort.

We are looking for an engineer who analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability of metal and composite airframe structures. Knowledge of random vibration analysis. Tools utilized may include Catia, FEMAP, Patran, Nastran and a variety of software applications.

In this role, you will be providing stress analysis for primary and secondary structure. Reviewing completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness. Must have coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions. Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives. Maintain and improve part designs, equipment, and systems in support of production deliveries.

Developing solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives. Evaluation of as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications. Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.

• Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in Engineering, OR a Master's degree AND 3 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in Engineering, OR a Ph.D. AND 1 year of related professional/military experience to include a background in Engineering.
• Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
• Experience in Metallic Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
• Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
• Experience using PATRAN, or FEMAP.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
