At Northrop Grumman, we develop revolutionary systems that impact people worldwide. We are seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer in Electromagnetic Environment Effects (EEE) to support the Systems Engineering Team. The position is site-based in Palmdale, CA and Melbourne, FL.
Essential Functions- Provide technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability analyses for total systems across all levels.
- Translate customer or product requirements into total system solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain E3 requirements, guidelines, models, analyses, and test procedures for EMI/EMC.
- Prepare and review E3 test procedures, test reports, technical analyses, control plans, and participate in cross-disciplinary design reviews.
- Design and verify E3 system components, subsystems, and systems using EMI principles, including ground systems, chassis, harness shielding, EMI filters, and interface circuitry.
- Lead training, mentoring, and process development for E3 engineering at Northrop Grumman.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 3 years of experience (Principal level); 8 and 6 years respectively for Senior Principal.
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Ability to obtain or maintain special program access before employment.
- Experience with MIL-STD‑461 or MIL-STD‑464.
- Minimum 1 year experience in RF, test, or design engineering.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Electromagnetics, RF, or analog circuitry.
- Experience in defense and aerospace practices; programmatic skills in BOE, RFP, ROM, CAM, WBS, risk assessment for E3 compliance.
- Extensive design experience with EMI filters, circuit layout, lightning protection, cable and harnessing design.
- Experience modeling and simulating E3 using commercial software.
