Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Director Supply Chain 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership position will be located in Palmdale, CA. The Director of Supply Chain 1 will have responsibility for the Goods Movement & Logistics (GM&L) organization across a high priority program, providing strategic leadership for operations in Palmdale, California;
Clearfield, Utah; and Iuka, Mississippi. This is one of the company's most critical supply chain organizations supporting the nation's premier strategic deterrence program. The Director will lead a geographically dispersed organization responsible for all aspects of material movement throughout the manufacturing lifecycle including receiving, warehousing, inventory management, material handling, kitting, transportation, shipping, export/import compliance, production line support, and logistics integration.
This position requires an experienced leader capable of developing organizational strategy, driving operational excellence, building high-performing leadership teams, and partnering with Program Leadership, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Contracts, Production Control, Global Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to ensure flawless execution in support of one of our nation's highest priority programs.
- Provide enterprise leadership for the Goods Movement & Logistics organization across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for GM&L operations supporting current production and future program growth.
- Lead a geographically dispersed organization consisting of managers, frontline leaders, exempt professionals, and non-exempt employees.
- Ensure standardized business processes and operational excellence across all program locations while driving consistency in execution for all aspects of warehousing, receiving, kitting, disbursement, shipping and production line support throughout our programs production lifecycle
- Partner with Program Leadership to align GM&L capabilities with production schedules, affordability objectives, and customer commitments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, inventory accuracy, cost, and employee engagement.
- Lead enterprise capacity planning, warehouse optimization, footprint expansion, and future facility stand-up initiatives supporting production growth.
- Establish performance metrics and governance processes to monitor operational health, identify risks, and execute timely corrective actions.
- Foster collaboration across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Production Control, Security, Environmental Health & Safety, and Corporate Logistics.
- Champion affordability initiatives, Lean methodologies, digital transformation, and automation opportunities that improve operational efficiency.
- Develop succession plans and strengthen leadership capability through coaching, mentoring, and talent development.
- Serve as the executive interface for internal and external customers regarding strategy, operational readiness, and execution performance.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, government regulations, export requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Inspire a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Lead through influence while building strong partnerships across multiple organizations.
- Make data-driven decisions balancing program execution, affordability, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
