Overview
Fabricates and assembles details for tooling, including jigs, fixtures, tools and dies, working with skilled tooling personnel. Performs layouts, rough stock preparation, finishing steps, and setup of equipment to interpret blueprints, tooling drawings and sketches using machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Responsibilities- Fabricates, assembles, and reworks multiple operation router blocks and/or multiple operation hand and hydro press forming blocks and accessories when tooling and information are available.
- Lays out flat and simple templates using empirical bend allowance formulas; makes templates from flat layout masters and sample parts from extruded or standard formed materials; fabricates contour templates for box template setups.
- Performs modification and rework of the level of difficulty of the described operations; performs related duties such as fabricating shims, spacers, clamps, jig bases, locator pads, ribs and other structural components.
- Prepares rough die stock, pipe, bar, plate and tubular stock for layout, machining, painting or inspection; moves, positions and handles parts, dies, tools, equipment and heavy materials; assists with breaking down setups and returns tools and fixtures to sources.
- Operates machinery such as drills, presses, shears, saws, grinders and routers to trim, burr, sand, drill and assemble tooling; checks wear and replaces defective components; disassembles and cleans tooling; maintains a clean, orderly work area.
- Paints and properly identifies and codes tooling; improvises shop aids to facilitate completion of work assignments.
- Performs disassembly and cleaning of tooling and checks for wear or damage; replaces worn components and reassembles.
- Assists others in handling, moving and positioning parts, dies, tools, fixtures and heavy materials; supports safety and quality practices in the shop.
- Performs related duties such as fabricating shims and clamps, preparing rough die stock, and preparing stock for layout, machining, painting or inspection.
- Utilizes Blueprint Reading and shop mathematics or equivalent.
- Must possess a minimum of one year of experience operating machine tools.
- Security Clearance Statement:

- Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules; schedules range from standard 40 hours over five days to condensed schedules with additional time off, as applicable. - Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off.
- Base pay range in California: $27.42 - $46.82.
