Milling Machine Machinist

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• High School diploma or equivalent and 10 years related machining experience in an aerospace, military, or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in programming and operating a 3 axis and/or 5 axis CNC machine (with simultaneous movements).
• Experience in Mastercam or related Cam software.
• Experience in GD&T in design and manufacturing process.
• Ability to design and create customized fixtures and tooling for jobs.

• Set up and operate manual or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours, boring compound angular holes, doing helical and spiral milling, serrating, and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances.
• Select, mount, and align various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plan sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determine, set, and adjust speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
• Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Make standard shop computations. Measure, mark, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Require completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
• Fabricate parts, assemblies, installations, and repair production metal products using HAAS 3 and 5 axis mill machines.
• Operate under restrictive policies regarding FOE (Foreign Object Debris), clean as you go, and housekeeping.
• Adhere to safety policies, including safety glasses, proper PPE (personal protective equipment), and hazardous waste requirements.

• Experience in programming and operating a 3 axis and/or 5 axis CNC machine (with simultaneous movements).
• Experience in Mastercam or related Cam software.
• Experience in GD&T in design and manufacturing process.
• Ability to design and create customized fixtures and tooling for jobs.
• Experience working in an Aviation Rapid Prototype and/or Experimental Fabrication Environment.
• Experience using NX or CAD modeling programs.
• Experience working with composites, Al, Ti, and Inconel.
• Active U.S. Government Secret level clearance last investigated within 5 1/2 years.
• Experience with Aerospace Parts.
• Experience in a team environment.
• Innovative and self‑motivated.
• Knowledge of ERP/SAP.

• Perform moderate strenuous physical work including bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces.
• Pass a new hire Physical.

• High School Diploma/GED (must be accredited).

Full-Time 4/10 workweek. The position will be served on-site at Palmdale, CA.
