Palmdale Regional Medical Center serves the region by providing high quality medical services to residents of the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities. Palmdale Regional Medical Center’s new Labor and Delivery unit – The Birth Place – is now open! The 33,000-square-foot unit features 25 private patient rooms, six labor/delivery/recovery suites and two surgical suites. The Rehabilitation Institute, the hospital features 184 licensed acute care beds as well as inpatient and outpatient surgery, an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, cardiac services featuring a STEMI Receiving Center (heart attack) and a 35-bed 24-hour emergency department.

Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Department Manager, Registered Nurse, and / or Charge Nurse, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care for patients and is guided by the policies and procedures of Nursing department and the hospital. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect nursing care of the critically ill patient. Follows the California Vocational Nurse Practice Act
Qualifications Requirements:- Must possess ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental egulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, families and the general public in a positive manner. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and report to the RN effectively. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Follows the nursing plan of care and initiate changes, needs critical thinking skills in concert with the RN.
- 1 year previous experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Graduate of and approved/accredited Vocational School of Nursing.
- Current Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) training for health care providers.
- CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
