Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Float Pool
Reporting to the Float Pool Director; the Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN's) provide basic, bedside nursing care for sick, injured, convalescing, elderly, and physically or mentally disabled persons. The Float Pool LVN confirms with the staffing office each shift what department they will report to for their shift. The Float Pool LVN is an integral part of the PRMC team as they always support the needs of the organization on all units.
They typically work in a health care team under the direction and supervision of a Physician and or Registered Nurse (RN) and develop their skills in Emergency, Critical Care, Medical-surgical, Maternity, and Pediatric nursing. LVNs observe patients, perform basic assessments, and report/document changes in a patient's condition. They also perform routine laboratory tests, feed patients, and record food and fluid intake and output.
Some LVNs perform intravenous therapy or blood withdrawal after completion of the IV Training Course. LVNs can also supervise Certified Nursing Assistants or perform the Certified Nursing Assistants tasks if needed.
Job Duties/Requirements:
- Minimum one year experience in an acute care setting as an LVN
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
- Basic organizational and computer skills.
- Current Unrestricted CA Vocational Nursing License
- Current CA Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or LVN Blood Withdrawal Certification
- Preferred Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by American Heart Association
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) is required within 30 days of hire.
