Summary

The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager positions primarily focus on creating the most enjoyable shopping experience for our guests. Responsibilities include sales, merchandising, operational tasks (cashiering, merchandise displays, register procedures, routine cleaning), sales generation, recruiting new teammates, training and motivating teammates, and acting as the Store Manager in their absence.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay range: $17–$21 per hour. The range is a budget estimate; final offers depend on skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other factors. For sales positions, Buckle offers a base rate plus commission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales Generation and Guest Service
  • Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
  • Answer questions confidently about merchandise, store policies, and promotions.
  • Recommend, select, and help locate merchandise to meet guest needs.
  • Suggest additional items and create a wardrobe experience.
  • Use product knowledge and sales education to support teammates.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment policies, and security practices.
  • Achieve personal sales–per–hour and total net sales goals set by management.
  • Provide service in the front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
  • Know exchange and return procedures and turn them into show‑manship opportunities.
  • Fill out and use the Sales Presentation Guide daily.
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in guest loyalty programs.
  • Expand guest selection through inventory manager, advanced searches, iPad apps, etc.
  • Build strong guest relationships for a client‑based business.
  • Lead by example with show‑manship and excellent customer service.
  • Communicate guest levels with the team.
  • Ask business‑driven, show‑manship questions to managers and teammates.
  • Be open to coaching from managers.
  • Maintain high standards even when the manager is absent.
  • Plan sales goals with the store manager.
  • Own the store’s sales performance metrics.
  • Show passion for product education and show‑manship.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
  • Identify recruiting opportunities via job boards, referrals, and internal recommendations.
  • Coach on guest loyalty initiatives.
  • Lead, direct, motivate, and educate new teammates on Buckle accountability, orientation, loss prevention, and sales standards.
  • Maintain a positive floor culture.
  • Model and enforce the dress code.
  • Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking.
  • Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks.
  • Coach denim show‑manship and fit cards.
  • Develop results in your department and carry out mid‑week check‑ins.
  • Track task completion and demonstrate leadership.
  • Keep teammates informed of guest names and preferences.
  • Explain pay and Buckle benefits.
  • Add top talent to the contact list.
  • Execute leadership playbook and accountability for characteristic pieces.
  • Plan recruitment and training for all open positions.
Visual Merchandise Management
  • Own and influence product zones, assign tasks to teammates with learning goals.
  • Execute new tools and videos related to zone ownership.
  • Delegate and review all four zones with the store manager.
  • Ensure visual standards and checklist compliance.
