Job Summary

Purchasing Agent – Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Non-Exempt, Full‑Time, Day Shift. Compensation: $39.08 per hour.

• Purchase goods and services according to the contract requirements.
• Coordinate with managers to maintain inventory levels.
• Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
• Work with appropriate teams to forecast the level of demand for services and products to meet business needs.
• Continuously analyze inventory usage and balances.
• Ensure that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
• Manage day‑to‑day business relationships with key suppliers through supporting activities including ordering, communication of demand/volume/delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end user feedback, and follow‑up on backorders.
• Maintain pricing history and other vendor records.

• Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, finance, or business preferred.
• Three (3) years of purchasing experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.
• May require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for several hours; climbing in and out of a vehicle; and up and down stairs.
• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

A valid state driver’s license is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
