Alaska's 2nd largest school district is looking to hire Special Education teachers for the upcoming school year. The district is located 45 minutes outside of Anchorage, AK and serves approximately 19,000 students across 48 schools in the communities of Glacier View, Sutton, Palmer, Wasilla, Butte, Knik‑Fairview, Meadow Lakes, Big Lake, Houston, Willow, Talkeetna, and Trapper Creek.
Position DescriptionAs a Special Education Teacher, you will implement individualized education plans as defined by the IEP Team, advocate for students with special needs, and provide high‑quality services based on current research and technology. You will assist the Student Support Services Department in meeting audit and compliance standards and promote positive attitudes toward Special Education.
Salary: $56,445 – $88,646, depending on service verification and education. The district follows a competitive Salary Schedule with accelerated step advancement. Applicants may bring up to 6 years of experience and receive an additional $3,000 bonus per year for National Certification.
Leave: Each certified teacher receives 4 paid personal leave days at the beginning of the year and accrues 1.33 sick leave days each month of employment.
Retirement: The district is a member of the State of Alaska Teachers Retirement System.
